Yay! So glad you liked the vid! ♥

Oh, wow, what a cast! Is it any good? I haven't heard of that one but I may have to watch that one, despite the murdery things!

It's a Stephen Poliakoff thing (hence the ridiculous cast - it also has Christopher Lee, Jenny Agutter, Eddie Redmayne, Hugh Bonneville, Julie Christie, David Tennant & Charlie Cox), and, yes, or at least I liked it very much. It's psychological and low-key rather than dramatic (it tells us pretty swiftly who's been killing people), but it's centred around Romola and we don't have scenes that she's not in, save for the 21st C bits. It's set in the summer of 1939 and about how far some people in power in the UK went to try and make appeasement happen and also that getting swept under the carpet immediately after and ever since. There's also pretty much nothing Romola wears in the whole film that isn't fabulous as well. Basically she becomes aware that pro-war people are being silenced (Jeremy Northam busy being murderous on vinyl, if not on screen) and some member(s) of her family proceed to gaslight her to make sure she doesn't talk either - and it's a lot about how far this goes and who's involved, and if she can endure it, and - in the 21st C bits - what eventually happened to her character. I didn't find it distressing in a way that I've found other things like that, but obv cannot say for other people.

I saw posters for it at the time 2009 and wanted to see it, but missed it, and it's taken me a long time to be at a level of well-ness enough to watch films, but I'm glad I finally did.
