Actually, they could and did (although not if they weren't at all into sports); as there was Manton's, where they could shoot at paper wafer targets. Mind, once you got to be generally known as a crack shot, people tended not to call you out. And you could still have a duel with swords, although pistols were commoner by this point. Besides, in the run up to Waterloo, finding your seconds and arranging everything... No, no. :-D
Heh. I wasn't even working on the story as such; it was merely te piece of knowledge: X is the villain that seemed to come down from on high, with me left going, oh yes? And why? :lol: (Yes, I like those moments, too. Except, they tend to be followed by the morning afterish moments, when suddenly the wonderful explanation doesn't actually make any sense after all.
