Beyond the Roundels

I keep forgetting to carry on re-uploading my icons that were originally hosted on tinypic and PhotoBucket, but sovay has been watching Mr Palfrey of Westminster lately (!) and that reminded me that I was thinking I should re-upload those next. When I went to find them, the set I did turned out to be part of my icons200 project, so I found the template (because some of them definitely make more sense with the categories).

Deciding on what to icon next takes far longer than making icon sets... Anyway, I remembered that I wanted to cap and icon some of the Margaret Lockwood films and as this set was clearly meant for The Wicked Lady (1945), that's what I did. (Featuring Margaret Lockwood, Patricia Roc, James Mason, Griffith Jones & Michael Rennie.)

28 Poldark (1975) set of icons. It was meant to be mostly other characters, as I'd already done a Ross/Demelza set a while back, but I couldn't quite keep them out, really.

I am a little better than last week now (thankfully!) but still v low; also it's hard to comment due to people in my house (looking after me but also eating up my energy too, unfortunately! I'm a ungrateful so-and-so). However, I'd finished this set before being hospitalised, so here are some pretty icons in the meantime. Enough of the moaning; I pulled myself together enough to make some icons over the last few days. The themes come from the icons200* thing I was doing ages ago. (I went to find it and realised I'd stopped because obviously this set had to be Seven & Ace and I needed more screencaps. And, lo, I was unwell enough not to grudge time spent screencapping last week.)

Now, what on earth to icon next...?


*I wanted a reason to icon (I fall so easily into thinking it just pointless & it's not) and picked the theme list from the now-defunct icons200 comm and was doing each installment of 10 themes + 10 artists' choice (like a 20by20), with option to swap out prompts if I didn't like them. I might continue again now sometimes.

I am going to Post All The Things! (Well, ish.) Here is the second set for my icons200 thingy I am sort of doing, which I actually made in June.

Also, I am only posting icons to LJ now and linking from Dreamwidth, because this month (if only for a few hours at the end), I went over my Photobucket bandwidth, which means that some people must be hotlinking to my pics (it happened overnight, I did nothing), but it also occurred to me that these days I had everything duplicated on Dreamwidth, which couldn't be good for it, either. So there has been mass deletion and I'll try not to crosspost images any more.

I've come up with a make-icons plan! (Why do I always need a plan/excuse for things I like doing?) Anyway, one of the joys of LJ is there's a comm for everything, even if it's been defunct for five or more years, so... I have themes stolen from icons200, which are alphabetical and in sets of 10, so I just decide on a show/character/pairing for that set, make the 10 icons, and am allowed up to 10 artist's choice on the same subject, and once I get a set, make a post! Simple. (Those are my rules that I made up, btw.)

Not simple - getting used to a new graphics programme. Why is this one superior to the other in nearly all the ways, but it won't do a simple thing like rotate a layer rather than the whole image? (I had to do text on a new image, rotate that and copy it in. Well, I moved the image over actually, it doesn't seem to want to copy, or not to paste it anyway. But I have brushes, so you know... Software being software, basically. Especially, as ever, with me, free/outdated/cheap software being software.)

Anyway, first set will be Poldark, as threatened, but Ross & Demelza only this time. (But I have 19 more sets to go, and I'll definitely do the other characters. I need to screencap some more yet, too.)
