I said there was fic just needing editing, and here's one of them - for "Five/Tegan - mistletoe kiss," another of the prompts sent me by [personal profile] romanajo123 in the Reverse Writing Meme. Also written for [community profile] genprompt_bingo square "Science and Magic."

Summary: The Doctor and Tegan have walked into a trap - and it looks as if there may be only one rather unconventional way out...

(I had no intention of having my next Five/Tegan fic be another "kiss or else" scenario, but, the prompt was mistletoe kiss, and so that's what happened. I'll try to do something different next time...)

So, in other writing news, both my treat recip and the [community profile] rainbowfic mod turned up to comment and make my day at exactly the same time a couple of days ago. (Why do things all come together when they weren't at all connected?) So then I was happy.

But [community profile] justmarriedexchange has now had author reveals and so here is what I wrote - a gift and a treat, both in Doctor Who.

I got [personal profile] senmut as my recip, which was good fun - a whole bunch of relationship tags that I liked to choose from and also they were dizzyingly rash enough to request Any Tag. (You will not be surprised to learn that given the choice of any tag in the tagset, they therefore immediately got a variant of Accidental Marriage off me, ahem, ahem.)

Anyway, I had a nice, manageable idea for Three/Brig/Liz and I do love s7 so much... and then it just grew! How did it grow? But it was also a really lovely fic to have living in my head and I'm still really pleased with how it came out and I liked the idea of the alien world involved as well.

Summary: “Doctor,” said the Brigadier, “you’re not saying you’ve stranded all three of us on an alien planet, with no way back home – and we’re married?”

I was also determined to write a Five/Tegan treat for [personal profile] ceruleantactician who had requested it as well, and one of their tags gave me a fun idea, so I did this. (I could have done Five/Tegan for the gift, but this way in theory I could have both worlds. And also my idea for my gift was really not that long or anything... lol) Which means I would have liked to maybe have added a little more to this one, but hopefully it's fine and fun(ny) and sweet as it is, and omg, people not me requested Five/Tegan. More than one even! 0_o

Anyway, that was fun, and I seem to have read most of my flist's stories while we were all undercover! (I guessed [personal profile] lurking_latinist - thank you for the treat!! - and [personal profile] astrogirl, and at least suspected [personal profile] senmut, but I'm now laughing that I completely failed to recognise [personal profile] paranoidangel. Because I should always suspect [personal profile] paranoidangel by this time...)

But it was fun, even with that long wait in the middle! (Let's not do that part again.) And thanks as ever to [personal profile] persiflage_1 who beta-ed them both for me. <3

As I said, I did some rewatching of Five, and then tried to write this for Whumptober prompt 19 "Bleeding" even if I didn't manage to actually type it up fully till now. I am a bit shocked at myself that I couldn't get it to double up for any of my bingos! (I mean, I suppose I could have claimed it for the [community profile] hc_bingo wild card square, but that seemed a bit pointless.)

Summary: The Doctor gets shot and there's nobody on hand to help but Tegan.

Like anything Five/Tegan I write, I do not know whether to label it with the ship or not, so I settled for not. (I tag it gen, whispering intently, "It's a lie!" lol.) I'm not sure it's come out as I wanted, but never mind. I'm in a place where I rearrange all my words in the wrong places, but I still want to write and here is a thing, which is a thing, and I love them very much anyway, whatever way you look at them.

Also I was trying recently to do a writing exercise as a thing to stop me having long periods where I don't write at all (which is fine in some ways, but then, because of the ME, it's very hard to work my way back in or not to immediately overdo it again when I do feel better), so made myself write a drabble or ficlet about anything, like the last thing I watched/read or whatever. But I liked this little one for Hammer's Vampire Circus (what I had just watched that day) enough to type it up for [community profile] 100ships and [community profile] 100fandoms. (It was a weird one! I kept changing my mind about it. It's got some interesting things, but it's also kind of like Vampire Gary Glitter child molestation at the same time and idk about that, really.) This ficlet brought to you chiefly by the fact that I always like Adrienne Corri and that my chiefly-DW-based experience of Laurence Payne had not at all led me to expect that he would be really quite sad and pretty in a Hammer film. But he was, and they were a thing together, sort of.

I managed ages ago to write two ficlets, courtesy of the Unconventional Courtship generator, for [personal profile] john_amend_all's birthday which was *mumble mumble* ago. I finally managed one more, so here goes. Crack is probably the only way to deal with rl right now anyway.

You will be so proud of me - I wrote all the prompts! (I mean, one per person, not actually all of them.) I haven't managed that in ages, save for those AU memes.

Anyway, the last four are on AO3, with relevant details under the cut:

Randomised Ficlets. And cake )
thisbluespirit: (spooks - Ruth!)
So, after I started feeling a little better a couple of weeks ago, I gradually picked up some things I'd already finished/nearly finished and started poking at them & as a result have posted most of them in the appropriate places, but not linked here.

1. A Ruth Evershed Character Manifesto (Spooks) for [livejournal.com profile] het_reccers (containing 13 recs, much blathering about the greatness of Ruth and ships and possible ships, plus some pics and gifs). (I've been chipping away at this for at least a year now.)

2. I looked at my [livejournal.com profile] dw_guestfest WIP and found it was much more complete and okay than I'd thought and tidied it up. It's here:

3. Someone reminded me that I once wrote a crossover fic for [livejournal.com profile] intoabar, which at the time I defaulted on due to being too ill to cope with the editing from my beta. I poked around my memory stick full of fic and found it and the beta-notes (which weren't actually difficult; I was just that ill back then) and posted that too:

4. And then I did manage to finish typing up a thing for [livejournal.com profile] runaway_tales, which is also filling a square for [community profile] trope_bingo (au: historical), and I think most things are now at least back to my usual sort of hit and miss abilities. \o/

Midnight Escapade (All ages, 1905 words. Edward Iveson/Julia Graves, Christy Graves, Amyas Harding.) It's a gratuitous Regency AU that I wrote at Christmas when I was reading too many terrible Regency romances.

In which I actually achieve a bingo! Hurrah! \o/ (Just have to work out to post to the comm now; I've never done a bingo before.)

Title: Subdivide and Multiply
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1778
Characters/Pairings: Slight Five/Tegan, implied Nyssa/Tegan, Turlough/Nyssa and possibly Five/Turlough. (Vague Five/Tegan/Nyssa/Turlough).
Notes/Warnings: AU from Terminus (in that Nyssa stays). It's a lot less shippy then it sounds.
Summary: Among the many things Tegan never planned, getting married to three aliens at once was definitely one of them, but that’s life on the TARDIS for you, or in this case, life off the TARDIS.

For [community profile] trope_bingo square “sharing a bed”, and directly from the discussion about Sedoretus I had a while back and [personal profile] john_amend_all’s comment that Doctor Who had the perfect Sedoretu in the shape of these four. (Allowing for Tegan/Nyssa, Five/Tegan, Turlough/Five and Turlough/Nyssa, with Turlough & Tegan and Nyssa & Five.) Somehow, the idea just wouldn’t go away, although I’m sure it could have been better done than this. It could certainly been far shippier, but that’s the trouble with me writing things. Also for [livejournal.com profile] livii in the 500 Prompts Meme - 44: This division must end – Five/Tegan (DW).

Subdivide and Multiply )
thisbluespirit: (dw- chimes may not have known it was imp)
The first four bits of resulting nonsense from the meme. As predicted, there was very little shippiness. I mean, have you got time for that sort of thing when you're doing the housework? ;-)

1. Doctor Who - Five/Tegan: mowing the lawn From [livejournal.com profile] eve11 (170 words)

Lawn-mowing ficlet )

4. B7 - Avon/Servalan: changing the light-bulb From [livejournal.com profile] lolmac (112 words)

How many enemies does it take to change a light-bulb? )

13. The West Wing - Sam Seaborn/Ainsley Hayes: washing the car - From [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 (213 words)

In which there may possibly be doughnuts )

Sapphire & Steel - Silver/Steel: alphabetising their CD collection From [livejournal.com profile] pitry (515 words).

Just imagining Steel and Silver having a shared CD collection to sort amused me muchly, because they really, really wouldn’t. And if they did, Steel’s would be tiny to non-existent, consisting of select instrumental pieces that he felt were not a potential threat to reality (taking a moment of time, physically recording it, and playing it over and over? That’s just asking for the end of the world, people). Silver would have by far the larger part of the collection, and it would be almost entirely made up of music he bought to annoy Steel (and a few things he thought were pretty). And in any case, he’d probably get bored with them and turn all the discs into something else.

So I wrote this:
Alphabetical order is vitally important )

The last of the batches that were hiding on my hard disc (although another is now building up quite nicely, too. :-D) These were lurking there the longest, as they are a bit rough, and I was going to do more and betterer (and I will). But I think they're quite nice as a small-ish set. There are also a handful from my screencaps of Peter-inexplicably-in-a-tux on the DVD extras. These are pretty much just bases, though.

... so a sort of meme?

I've seen people messing with the drabble-matic thing (except it doesn't actually do drabbles - minus points for misuse of the term!). It asked for so much info, I didn't bother, but then thought if I put Five and Tegan in and just used words that went with them (beige, purple, cricket ball etc). It, um, well... It makes no sense whatsoever, but is bizarrely not unDW-like because it does include an attempt by one of the two to rule the world.

Disturbing Five/Tegan generated ficlet )

And I can't offer any explanation for what it gave me when i tried with Tarrant and Dayna. I mean, I know there's a lot of B7 slash, but it was a randomly generated ficlet. (I think it must be based on a certain type of fanfic cliche. Darn. Even when I put random words in a random generator, B7 won't do romance.)

More disturbing Tarrant/Dayna ficlet )

Okay, and then I did Blake and Jenna, and it came so near pr0n that I think I should stop now. But this generator definitely knows how B7 works as compared to DW. I am beginning to wonder if Orac is about on the nets...

Even more disturbing Blake/Jenna ficlet )
thisbluespirit: (Annie writing)
I've finished my endless UNIT series, so now I'm contemplating WIPs. I have other shorter things to do, but I can go back to at least one long fic. I shall probably tackle the first, but here's most of what I have of them. Which one would people prefer? (Of course, I'll probably get mugged by a passing plot bunny, but I'll bear it in mind).

Please note, some of this may not have been corrected fully yet.

The Devil Is A Gentleman )

A Cauldron to Boyle Their Heads )

Another Inn, Another Girl )

And then in long-hand there's the Owl Service rip off for Eight and Lucie (sort of asked for by [livejournal.com profile] pitry Very sort of.), the one where Four, Sarah and Harry on get locked up for week, and probably others. Decisions...
thisbluespirit: (Default)
Firstly, I am wearing contact lenses. This is really peculiar, but very exciting. (Although I did think for a bit that the very kind and patient woman at Boots wasn't going to let me have them... because of my initial inability to take them out. I must say I wondered what it would be like putting them in, but hadn't thought about how weird it would be sort of pinching at seemingly non-existent things in your eyes. However, I managed it.)

Secondly, and what I was meaning to say - I've been doing some actual writing!: I finally finished my DW/Angel crossover last night (now up on Teaspoon HERE). I must thank [livejournal.com profile] dbskyler who has probably forgotten that she answered my what-should-Peri-sing-at-karaoke question last spring or something - and gave me not only a sensible answer to that but also a fun last line. So: thanks!

Plus, have a random drabble! I've been going back through some of the old [livejournal.com profile] dw100 challenges recently and was trying to do one per Doctor for the 004/020 challenge 'crossover'. I did this one and then realised that not only was it obscure (as ever), but it didn't have a Doctor in it, so it didn't count (for my own personal satisfaction, I should add - [livejournal.com profile] dw100 are wonderfully non-prescriptive!). So: Tegan Jovanka has a new employee at the famliy cattle feed business who isn't the least bit scared of her bossiness... (I don't know why I keep using The Gathering continuity when sometimes I don't want the audio to exist, but then Tegan's arguments about why she ended up in the business are fun)(DW/Press Gang):

Just Like Home )

I've got my third fake TV Show nearly done, but I'll hold fire on it for a bit, because it's also Regency-set, so I don't want to follow Cloak and Dagger with it too swiftly.
thisbluespirit: (Ruth!)
The first few (not necessarily in order, though - sorry!):

For [livejournal.com profile] pitry: Screwdriver )

For [livejournal.com profile] primsong: Job Satisfaction )

For [livejournal.com profile] paranoidangel42: Outmanoeuvred )

For [livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1: Burned )

I promise the rest won't be too long in following (and I've still got 2 spare gaps - and I'm not going to tell on anyone who doesn't run the meme in return, really...)
thisbluespirit: (fivetegan)

Just finished Between Times, a Five/Tegan story, but it ended up with terminal misunderstandings.  The only thing I could do to cheer myself up was to write a sort of fix for The Gathering.  I mean, I do love it.  Most of it.  But there are some things in it that could use fixing.  So I just did, with a little help from the Tenth Doctor, who's at a loose end at the moment, and was quite obliging about it.

Romance in the Round.

It began in Banned Valentines when the Doctor and Tegan discover their true feelings on Valentine's Day.  Which has been banned in the Round as it only ever causes trouble, arguments and horrible murders.  Plus, nobody's about to give them any space or even believe them.

The sequel Interference (in which Turlough causes trouble and the Master plays Cupid) I'm much happier with.   The Doctor's not talking to Tegan and there's trouble with a plot, a PLOT hole, the Master and Turlough.  And a coda with some vegetable jokes.  (I know.  I'm mad.)
