I am still not really coping, so am not keeping up. I will just continue to pop up with gifs, or in this case, fic, since I have also been managing some little bits of writing recently. Anyway, I have finished the birthday Unconventional Courtship fic(lets) for [personal profile] john_amend_all, plus the summaries I couldn't write but needed to share:

Leela/Ten )

Charley Pollard/Lucy Weston )

Holly/Fifth Doctor )

[personal profile] el_staplador requested Meet Me at Midnight for the Fic Commentary Meme.

This was a recent one, written to finish off one of my remaining [community profile] who_allsorts prompts on my Fourth Doctor claim, the prompt being, "I will go alone," which, in conjunction with Four, made me think of the line from Androids of Tara where the Doctor says, "They always want you to go alone when you're walking into a trap, have you noticed that?" So I thought it could be fun to play with that being the Doctor's voice of experience speaking there.

I picked the prompt set out a couple of years ago now, and the vague idea had been lurking for a while, and then suddenly the full idea just struck me, and I wrote it and it was a lot of fun. I do have my original notebook version, but it didn't see a lot of changes, overall.

Each segment was, hopefully (and judging by comments, fairly successfully), a typical scene with each Team TARDIS of Four's era. (Well, barring Four, Romana & Adric, but the E-Space trilogy is still on my to-watch pile.)

Cut for various traps )

I actually wrote this at the same time as Meet Me At Midnight, but it's a little odd, and I forgot about it. However, it finishes off my last prompt for my Fourth Doctor table at [livejournal.com profile] dw_allsorts, so yay.

I've managed a few of the AU Meme ficlets so far (and a few still yet to come). I have been posting them to AO3 & of course in the comments, but in the absence of other things going on, I thought I might as well round them up here, too:

Liz Shaw )

Justin Alastair, Duke of Avon )

Nine & Rose )

Adam Adamant & Georgina Jones )

Harry Pearce/Ruth Evershed )

Leela )

Roderick Alleyn )
thisbluespirit: (s&s - silver)
I've been poking round in my notebook, and found some things, including this, which I believe I wrote last summer, but couldn't quite finish. (Now, I found it already had its ending; I'd just tried to continue beyond it.)

Title: Til My Fingers Bleed
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 856 words
Characters/Pairings: Leela, Ander Poul
Notes/Warnings: Set at the end of the PDA Corpse Marker, with some reference to elements of the story. Mild hurt/comfort of sorts. Brief references to Poul's mental state.
Summary: Leela has no sympathy for Poul. What she has to give is always more practical.

For [livejournal.com profile] liadtbunny in the 500 Prompts Meme - Prompt 008: 'Til your/my/her/his fingers bleed – Leela/Poul (DW/Kaldor City). Also for [community profile] hc_bingo square “panic attacks”.

You never know what you'll find when you start opening old files. I didn't find unfinished fic in the first one I tried - I found something better worse... I apparently saved some more of those randomly generated ship fics from ages ago. And added in some Liz/Silver. I had to share. None of them reach the heights of randomly generated Avon/Servalan fic, but then, what could?

Silliness ensues )

Leela post

I thought it was about time one of these sort of recs/resources post was DW themed, but it's much easier to do smaller things, so when I do it'll be by character or era. And I don't seem to be prepared for that (after all, I only have 180 DW fics bookmarked *rolls eyes*), so it'll be another obscure thing next. But in the meantime, Leela fanvids and fic recs to showcase the awesomeness of the Doctor's favourite savage under the cut:

Leela! )

Entirely irrelevant: you know it's cold when you have to scrape the ice off the inside of your car...
thisbluespirit: (Mary Whitehouse)
Yes, really. I actually did some Doctor Who icons... (I learned how to do at least three obvious things with images this morning, too.)

Only 1 day behind now! Yay.

Day 15 - Favorite female character:

So many to choose from, but there's only one who's definitely in the top spot here: Ruth Evershed, Spooks's Senior Analyst, as played by Nicola Walker.

It was getting a bit long and this is pure Leela (and Leela/Colby), so:

thisbluespirit: (Colby)
Courtesy of my new ability to get screenshots. (You're all going to get fed up with me very quickly now, I tell you... I started out just wanting Leela pics and a Colby icon, but it was much too easy to press the button when people were looking pretty). So: pictures of skulls, sceptical scientists, superstitious old ladies, dodgy men in white coats and Leela preening in the TARDIS:

(Spoilers for Image of the Fendahl beneath cut, obviously).

Title:On the Highway
Author:[livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 5850
Characters: Fourth Doctor, Leela, Duchess of Avon (Leonie Alastair), Lord Rupert Alastair, Kerr Avon, Rupert Giles, Duke of Avon (Justin Alastair), K9.

In which the universe hits upon a million to one chance and the Duchess of Avon has an accident to her carriage. With highwaymen, Leonie not being fond of people call themselves Avon, the Doctor and the Duke of Avon vying for omniscience and Giles still managing to get bashed over the head.

This is the reason [livejournal.com profile] dbskyler still hasn't got that crossover story yet & I was a bit preoccupied yesterday. I posted a drabble on [livejournal.com profile] dw100 that involved Four and Leela running into Leonie, Rupert Alastair and the Duke of Avon (from Georgette Heyer's These Old Shades. [livejournal.com profile] infiniteviking read it as Avon (from Blake's 7) and Rupert Giles. All in 18th C England. Naturally, talk of crossovers ensued. But I kept the Heyer characters in, because it was much more fun that way. I'm not sure what the point was, but, er... (Well, I would have had one, but my Blake's 7 watching is still limited to mostly some chopped up episodes from S1, plus now 2 uncut episodes and 2 more uncut from S2, so I can't really claim to know where that Avon is coming from or going to yet. And it would have been easier - and had a better bit for Justin - if I hadn't discovered that I gave away my copy of These Old Shades. I had to use the sequel to get the voices right. What was I thinking?)

***

Talking of which, and I cut this as it's mainly for [livejournal.com profile] velvetfascism, if she's around. Yes, you made me watch Blake's 7 )
thisbluespirit: (Leela)
Much delayed (blame BT), my review for a rewatch of Invasion of Time. Many spoilers under the cut.

Have the day off school! )

And, yes, I am trying to do a Leela/Andred story to go along with the others. But it may be a while. And whether it'll explain the mystery, who knows?

Story: This Time Round: Let's Play... Blind Date (with Leela)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 2,616
Characters The Celestial Toymaker, Movie Master, Leela, Fourth Doctor, Poul, Professor Litefoot, Professor Colby, Cordo and Andred.
Summary: Leela goes on Nameless TV and finally has to choose between her queue of useless admirers. (Well, that's the idea...)

What was I thinking? )

Edit: It's already up here on the archive, if that's easier. (With amazing speed!!)
thisbluespirit: (Leela)
Well, I watched Underworld, too. Why does it get quite so little love? This is the second time I've watched it now and I still liked it. Very, very dogdy CSO, of course and other very 70s Who flaws, but if those are really going to bother you, why are you watching 1970s DW?

Oh, it's another self-aggrandising artefact! )
thisbluespirit: (Leela)
I just finished rewatching The Sun Makers. It occurs to me that last time I watched through this era must have been that time I was ill, so I found this a lot less dull than last time.

And the Doctor's inability to tell the difference between sweets is clearly deliberate and not due to lack of jelly babies. (He just gave a jelly baby to someone and said it was a humbug...)

Some more waffle here )

Title: Happy Endings 9: Remnants
Author: [personal profile] thisbluespirit
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 7775
Summary: Defeat the monster, get held for questioning the morning after. Adam Colby wants to find the dog and move on, but UNIT, Torchwood and the local police are still far more interested in what happened at Fetch Priory. Luckily, Leela stayed with the Tylers and she's on hand to help.

Well, I said you'd be safe from this one for a while: sorry. I was meant to be writing other fic today (I was allowing myself that), but I couldn't help myself typing this up. I enjoyed writing it a ridiculous amount and am dancing for glee at having finished and posted it. Whether anyone else will like it, who knows? I suspect I'm being far too obscure for my own good. (Erm. Yay for minor Classic Who characters?)

Ridiculous waffle about the story )
It is completely spoilery if you haven't seen Image of the Fendahl, but on the other hand, if you don't mind spoilers, it is mainly a story in its own right. Shouldn't be too baffling, I hope.

Anyway, that's quite enough. At some point it'll turn up on Teaspoon.

Title: Happy Endings: Tea and Etiquette (and Other Niceties)
Author: [personal profile] thisbluespirit
Rating: All ages
Word Count: 1,574
Characters: Leela, Fourth Doctor, Professor George Litefoot and Henry Gordon Jago
Summary: In which our heroes both propose to the fair Amazon Leela over tea and muffins and she must choose between them. (The jade.)

[livejournal.com profile] clocketpatch, I'm sorry I've neglected your drabble for the meme below (I've only got 4 requests filled - people can still make one if they want! Go on!), but this was why and given that you suggested it (even if, evil mind that I am, I was already trying to write it), you may forgive me.

Dependent on when it appears on Teaspoon, of course.

And I've spent most of today writing out one (longhand, so you're all safe for a bit) for Image of the Fendahl. (It nearly turned into an epic).

Edit: 'Tis up on Teaspoon already, so it is.
thisbluespirit: (Leela)
Okay, my thoughts (definitely spoilers all over the place this time, because this is new to me).

The Doctor talks to cows, Leela's a flirt and it's all rather fun. )
